My Background
I have a Master of Arts in Museum Studies from IUPUI and a Bachelor of Science in Planetary Sciences and a Minor in Art History from Purdue University. I've done an internship in the registration department of the Indianapolis Museum of Art at Newfields and completed a collections fellowship at the Great American Songbook Foundation.
My Goals
My goal is to utilize my skills and my passion for museums so that everyone can enjoy learning through the collections of GLAM organizations. I became interested in museums after taking art history courses during my undergrad, and I really wanted others to feel the same enthusiasm for learning that I felt during those classes.
Why Are Museums Important to Me?
GLAMs care for pieces of history. Visitors can experience the joy
of learning in their own way, and at their own pace. Museums provide an interesting environment for visitors to admire art, learn about the past, or reminisce about their childhood. Children can learn through play. Communities can share their stories. Museums care for and allow people to experience all sorts of history, whether through art, science, natural history, or interactive experiences.
*GLAM is an acronym for "galleries, libraries, archives, and museums"
